Don’t leave finding a Rock Salt Supplier until the last minute

Don't leave finding a Rock Salt Supplier until the last minute.

Being British, we never know exactly what to expect from the weather, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be prepared for the vagaries of the winter weather. We’ve been lucky enough to experience an unseasonably warm spring and summer this year, and the fact that the weather is being kind into the beginning of autumn is enough to convince some people that they won’t be needing the services of any rock salt suppliers this year.

Don’t be left out in the cold when the winter weather strikes. No matter how unrealistic that might seem while the sun is shining, we can be absolutely certain that winter will arrive in due course. Rock salt suppliers are sure to be inundated with orders at the first sign of impending bad weather, just as the roads become impassable and deliveries become harder thanks to poor road conditions.

There are two principal types of rock salt available, and the product you choose will depend upon the area you wish to clear of ice and snow. Most rock salt suppliers stock brown and white rock salt, both of which perform the same task. Salt causes ice to melt and can prevent slips, trips and falls on pavements and driveways as well as providing extra grip for vehicle tyres on the roads in icy conditions.

Brown salt tends to be cheaper than the white alternative, with most rock salt suppliers sourcing the product from UK mines. Granules are larger than their white counterparts, and the colour makes it easy to see where you have applied the product. This is a popular choice for driveways and paths and general domestic use.

White de-icing salt is usually sourced from abroad, and with smaller granules than brown salt it is slightly more expensive. It is a useful option for areas which need to be kept clean, such as commercial premises and hospitals. Cleaner than brown rock salt, it is a popular choice for hospitals and schools with high volume foot traffic entrances.

We stock both brown and white rock salt to suit your purposes. Whether you are in search of a large bulk order or a selection of smaller bags for easier distribution, browse through our products and don’t forget that we are just at the end of the telephone waiting to answer any queries you might have.
